Open House Melbourne—116 Rokeby selected!

A collaboration between Figurehead and Carr. Explore 116 Rokeby for Open House Melbourne on Saturday 27 July 2024.

We are thrilled to announce that 116 Rokeby has been selected as a feature project for Open House Melbourne 2024. This event, a celebration of architecture and urban design, invites Melburnians to rediscover their city through the exploration of groundbreaking spaces.

116 Rokeby, a collaboration between Figurehead and Carr, is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable commercial architecture. Guided tours will be available on Saturday, 27 July 2024, offering an insider’s look into the innovative design and meticulous planning that define this iconic development.

The tour will also highlight the building’s holistic planning and showcase its southern façade, which acts as a permanent canvas for a commissioned First Nations artwork that respectfully acknowledges the land’s Traditional Owners.
Led by Project Designer and Director Stephen McGarry, Open House Melbourne tours will delve into the sophisticated design strategies employed at 116 Rokeby. Attendees will gain insight into the building’s cutting-edge passive design measures, such as the double-skin façade to the north. This feature not only regulates temperature but also maximizes natural daylight across the office spaces, significantly enhancing energy efficiency and occupant comfort.

The tours will also explore the building’s holistic approach to urban design and architecture. A highlight is the southern façade, which serves as a canvas for commissioned artwork by First Nations artists, celebrating and honouring the Traditional Owners of the land. This integration of cultural respect into the building’s fabric is a key aspect of the project’s ethos.

116 Rokeby stands as a beacon of innovation and sustainability in Collingwood, redefining what a modern workspace can be. Join us during Open House Melbourne to experience firsthand how 116 Rokeby combines state-of-the-art facilities with a profound commitment to environmental and cultural integrity. Don’t miss this opportunity to see how contemporary design meets sustainability at one of Melbourne’s newest architectural landmarks.
